Discrete/continuous signal in simevents and simulink

Hi,

I am looking for a way to incorporate discrete & continuous signal in my Simulink PID controller.

I am using Simevents to generate a discrete signal, which, together with a continous signal, feeds into my Simulink PID controller. As an example:

Waste deposit into a hopper every hour (discrete signal) Waste continuously draining from the hopper (continuous signal) PID control keeps waste level in the hopper at a designated level.

I'd appreciate any advice on how to go about this. Do I need to convert the discrete signal to a continuous one?
