The Watson Optical Trap Simulator

This package simulates the transfer of atoms from a spherical ensemble of cold atoms into a variety of optical traps (principally lattice).

This package simulates the transfer of atoms from a spherical ensemble of cold atoms into an optical trap. The optical trap can be one of three forms: (i) a lattice trap potential that is generated by standing waves of laser light, (ii) a single (horizontal) focused beam, and (iii) a crossed beam dipole trap. Most testing has been carried out on the lattice trap. Both atom and lattice parameters are set as inputs to the simulation. The atomic parameters include atomic mass, cloud temperature, and atomic polarizability, while the lattice trap parameters include beam waist size, wavelength and laser power. Outputs include, trapping efficiency, temperature, site occupancy, and an .avi file of the simulation. The zip file contains user documentation.
