Written for undergraduate students in chemical engineering, this book provides a comprehensive introduction to process dynamics and control. The book begins with an overall look at simple control system design problems. Later chapters deal with more advanced topics such as nonlinear systems and microprocessor-based controllers and distributed control. Topics include introductory concepts, modeling for process dynamics, linear open-loop systems, and response of first-order systems. The revised third edition contains many additional end-of-chapter homework problems.
MATLAB and Simulink are introduced and used to solve numerous examples in the book. In addition, a supplemental set of MATLAB code files is available for download via sign in.
