The Journey Towards Autonomous Transport Solutions
Daniel Frylmark, Scania
Many leaps in technology are driven by innovation or simply stumbled upon. However, in the transport industry, the progress towards sustainability and autonomy is foremost business driven. Step by step increased electrification, advanced driver assistance systems, and autonomous transport solutions reduce the CO2 footprint and help to maintain the profitability in an industry with decreasing margins. Advanced driver assistance systems fill the gap between fully human-controlled vehicles and completely autonomous vehicles. This presentation focuses on some of the methods and strategies that play key roles in this development, (e.g., simulation-driven software development and centralized sensor fusion). The presentation also discusses how lean development methods and value-driven leadership make the journey towards autonomy an evolution rather than a revolution.
