extract features equally spaced along a contour line

Hi all. I have pictures displaying contour lines (of faces). On each contour line, I would like to place 1000 equally distant points and extract features at each point (in order to get the local orientation of the contour line). How could I do this ? I know how to detect (and extract) SURF or BRISK features, but I would prefer to constrain the location of features such that the entire contour has been sampled. Thanks in advance !
