how to calculate slope of each grid ?

i have 80*80 matrix. I wanted to write a code to find slope of every grid.

What slope? Slope needs two points?
i have 10 years of aerosol data for Indian region. After calculating climatology i am left with,80*80 matrix (consisting mean of 10 years of aerosol data). I want to calculate slope of every grid of the matrix of 80*80. Now, is it possible to calculate slope or not? Because after seeing your comment i went to talk to my professor regarding this and he said yes you can calculate.
Then your professor might be so kind to define, which slope you should calculate. The slope in x and in y direction? The direction of the steepest descent? The vector orthogonal to the plane in each point? Imagine you have a balloon. What is the "slope" in each point?
Got the slope now. Anyways, thanks for the help.

[dx, dy] = gradient(X)

then slope would be dy/dx?
Did you read this already:
doc gradient
?
