Can't save my simbiology model. "Access is Denied" Work lost

3 views (last 30 days)
I'm building a simbiology model graphically. I saved it several times during my work session. Then, when I tried to save it (view the Save As icon on the home ribbon), I got a message that the model couldn't be saved: "Access is Denied". I switched directories, and even tried to save to a USB. No dice. Same message. Matlab 2017b.
The prime rule in software design is "thou shalt not lose the user's work". I lost a couple hours of work because of this. Anyone know why this happened, or how to work around it and save the model?

Hi Jim,
Sorry about the inconvenience this has caused you. The error message indicates that SimBiology does not have permissions to write into a directory. The save is a two step process that involves the temp directory and the destination directory. An issue with write permissions to the temp directory will also cause the 'Access Denied' error to be displayed.
In order to investigate this further could you provide us with the following information?
  1. Your OS version.
  2. Did this happen just once? or is this now a persistent problem?
  3. Are you able to save other models (e.g SimBiology example projects) to the locations you tried?
  4. Do you have write permissions to the temp directory? You can find the temp directory used by MATLAB by typing: tempdir on the MATLAB command line.
Again, I apologize for the issue and we would like to work with you to investigate and fix the problem. If you prefer, you can email your reply using the “Contact” link on my community profile page.
