Can not update from R2018b update 1 to R2018b update 2

Previously, I had installed Update 1 for MATLAB R2018b on my computer. I've noticed that Update 1 is no long available, but update 2 is now posted online.

However, when I try to install update 2, i get an error stating that I can not update from Update 1 to Update 2. How do I fix this?

In order to install MATLAB R2018b Update 2, you will need to uninstall MATLAB R2018b and reinstall it. An issue in the installer for Update 1 inhibits the Update 2 installer from successfully completing.
