Why am I unable to launch MATLAB on my Intel Mac OS X 10.4 machine?

1 view (last 30 days)
When I launch MATLAB, X11 starts but MATLAB never comes up. If I launch MATLAB from an xterm window, I receive the following error message:
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.6.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/MATLAB74/bin/maci/MATLAB.app/
Contents/MacOS/libmwhg.dylib
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.6.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture
Trace/BPT trap

This error message indicates that you have the PowerPC version of Apple's X11 installed on your Intel machine. In order to resolve this problem, please reinstall X11 from a set of Tiger DVD's for the Intel MAC architecture.
