A minimum entropy deconvolution (MED) filter is used to accentuate impulsive portions of a signal. It was developed to process seismic data, but has been widely used to process machinery signals where bearing and gear degradation is a concern. This function takes a single vector (x) a filter length (L), and a maximum number of iterations (maxIter) and iteratively develops a filter that minimizes the entropy (or alternately maximizes the kurtosis).
