Hello. My name is Steve Miller. And this is the introduction to the Simscape vehicle templates.
The Simscape vehicle templates consist of a configurable vehicle model with controllers, a library of customizable components, and a user interface that you can use to customize the vehicle and the event you wish to run. The event consists of the vehicle, the surface it's running on, and the maneuver that the driver wishes to execute, which can be an open loop or a closed loop maneuver. The event is run and you can evaluate the results of how the vehicle performed at the end of the simulation.
The vehicle model has been assembled from components in the Simscape libraries. It has a powertrain, suspension, and tires. This vehicle model is connected to models of the input, control system, and the environment. This integrates the control algorithms and the vehicle model in a single environment.
Because the vehicle model is based on physical connections, it makes it easy to customize and configure. This enables you to use the same top level model for parameterized models and specific designs for single axle and two axle vehicles. Using the customizable component libraries, multi-axle vehicles can be modeled.
There are many use cases for the Simscape vehicle templates. You can use them to test control algorithms from suppliers. Your vehicle model can be integrated with brake, power steering, and active suspension control systems. You can use this model to evaluate new designs for subsystems such as the suspension, brakes, and drive train. You can size components, such as the battery, motor, and engine. And you can test your design more fully by exposing it to fault scenarios.
The templates are integrated with other capabilities. You can connect the model to Unreal engine to generate photo realistic animations the measurements from the simulation can be fed to the Unreal engine during simulation or to simply replay the results of a previous test. Thank you.
