    About the Presenters

Dr. Ragi Ghosn is a full professor at the Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth(USJ), Ecole Supérieure d’Ingénieurs de Beyrouth (ESIB) - Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Department. He obtained his PhD in 2001 from INP Toulouse. He held several administrative positions during his career including Head of Electrical and Mechanical engineering Department and Director of CINET (Centre des Industries Electriques et des Télécommunications). He’s currently responsible for administrative tasks to the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at USJ. He has more than 30 years' experience in teaching and research and has been using MATLAB/Simulink ever since. His research interests including electrical machines, power electronics and variable-speed drives. He has many publications in these areas.

Stefano Olivieri received a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at University of Bologna, Italy, in July 1995, and got a Post Graduate Advanced Degree in Information Technology at CEFRIEL, Polytechnic of Milan the same year. He’s been with MathWorks since 2005. After spending eight years as a Senior Application Engineer in the field of Signal Processing and Communication Systems, supporting companies in the Communications, Electronics, Semiconductors and Aerospace and Defense industry segments, Stefano is currently working with the Academia Group to help the top universities with the adoption of MathWorks tools for effective teaching and research. Before that, he worked with R&D labs in STMicroelectronics and Philips Research, where he dealt with the design and development of wireless communication and video processing systems. Stefano has also been Contract Professor with the University of Milano for three years, where he was teaching Transmission Theory for the Telecommunication Software Engineering Bachelor Degree.

Dr. Chris Danezis is an Assistant Professor in Geodesy at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics. He is the Head of the CUT Laboratory of Geodesy, the Infrastructure Coordinator and Head of the Geoinformatics Cluster of the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, and the Coordinator of the CyCLOPS Strategic Research Infrastructure Unit, which aims at monitoring natural disasters using novel space-based techniques. He has an extensive professional experience as a consultant engineer specialized in surveying, positioning, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), location-based services (LBS) and the development of software for governmental institutions and the private sector. His teaching experience extends over ten years and spans the broader spectrum of Geodesy and Surveying with a focus on the fields of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and Higher Geodesy. He is currently a coordinator of nine university modules in Geodesy and Geoinformatics. Throughout the years, he has been actively involved in important capacity building actions by employing the use of contemporary and effective learning tools in his teaching or training activities. One of his personal objectives is to convey his passion for programming to his students and turn them into fans of clear and robust software development.

Dr. Hussam Khasawneh is an associate professor in Mechatronics Engineering Department at the University of Jordan since 2015. He is also the national secretary of IAESTE Jordan, an international association for students' exchange. He received his BSc degree in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Jordan and MS in mechanical engineering and PhD in electrical engineering, both from the Ohio State University. He has been using MATLAB for more than 15 years in his research and teaching. His research interests are in renewable energy, smart grids, energy storage, and advanced automotive systems.
