Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) applied to Medical Device Development

    Overview

Working on large systems that involve multiple teams?  How do you coordinate the interfaces between each of them? Do your developed features always match the original System Requirements?

Architecting large systems that involve multi-discipline engineering can get complicated. Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is the formalized application of modeling to early development tasks, such as concept selection and architecture breakdown. The goal is to use models to create a structured and auditable approach to identify requirements, specify interfaces, and control risks throughout the product lifecycle – both at the component level and the system level.

What does this this look like in action? Learn how you can implement an MBSE developmental approach utilizing System Composer™, Requirements Toolbox™ and the Simulink® platform.

    • Using models of an infusion pump as an example, we’ll demonstrate how to use models to
    • Break down and detail system architectures
    • Quantify early project decisions using trade studies
    • Communicate design specifications across multiple teams
    • Validate designs by integrating and testing engineering models
