Don't See Your Driver?

This topic provides information and tips to help you select and configure a driver for your device in the Instrument Explorer app.

Install Driver

If the Driver drop-down is empty, the driver for your instrument might not be installed on your machine.

Visit the instrument vendor website to download the correct IVI^® or VXIplug&play driver for your instrument. The drivers supported by the app are listed at Supported IVI Drivers.
View the Configure tab after driver installation to see if your installed driver appears.
If your driver still does not appear, close down your MATLAB^® session, then restart MATLAB and the Instrument Explorer app.
If your driver still does not appear, reboot your machine, and restart MATLAB and the app.

Troubleshooting

If driver does not show up after the previous steps, try the following.

Run the following at the MATLAB command-line to see if your driver is recognized.
```
ividriverlist
```
If your driver is not recognized by ividriverlist, contact MathWorks^® support at https://www.mathworks.com/support/contact_us.html.
If the driver appears in the Driver drop-down list, but the app is showing an error during connection when you click Confirm Parameters, it is possible that the selected driver is not supported by the app, or that the installed vendor driver version is incompatible with the app. Report to MathWorks support any such issues related to failed connections.

IVI Class-Compliant Drivers

When the Class-Compliant option is enabled in the Instrument Explorer app, either the IVI class-compliant driver or the driver selected in the Driver pull-down menu can be used for instrument connection and communication operations, depending on which option you select:

If the selected value is true, the IVI class-compliant driver is used.
If the selected value is false, the device-specific driver that is selected in the Driver pull-down is used.

When the Class-Compliant option is disabled and read-only:

If the value is true, only the IVI class-compliant driver is used for instrument connection and communication operations. The device-specific driver selected in the Driver pull-down menu is not supported by MATLAB or the app.
If the value is false, the device-specific driver that is selected in the Driver pull-down menu is used for instrument connection and communication operations. This also means that the driver selected in the Driver pull-down menu is not an IVI class-compliant driver. It is possible that this driver is not supported by MATLAB and this app.
