Detection of a contact zone between object on image

Hi I want to measure the length of a contact zone between a neuron and his astrocyte on electronic microscopy image. It's like measuring the frontier of two zones actually. The contrast between the two regions of interest is close and not easy to segment correctly. Any methods or idea ? Thanks.

Thanks for your answers. I put an image as example. We can see two kind of texture or contrast, I am trying to measure the contact between the "dark" and the "bright" zones.
