How do I write to a data store block in a referenced model?

Is there any way that I can write to a data store in a referenced model from the model it is situated in or the command line? In this case I cannot define the data store globally or use a data store write inside the reference model.

The page on Using Data Stores Across Multiple Models refers to a way of creating a global memory location in the base workspace programmatically and then using data store read in the model where you want to access this data. In this case, you should not use a data store memory block which would shadow this global data in the workspace. Does this suit your need?
