What Is Simscape Fluids?
Model and simulate fluid systems.
Published: 12 Sep 2018
Simscape Fluids provides component libraries for modeling and simulating fluid systems. You can use these components to model backhoe actuators, steam turbines, water supply networks, and other applications. You model these systems by Simulink the components into a schematic. You select the physical effects you wish to enable, assign parameter values, and then you are ready to start simulating
Simscape Fluids includes many types of components such as models of hydraulic pumps, valves, actuators, pipelines, and heat exchangers. You can create custom component models with the Matlab based Simscape language. You can integrate other physical systems into your model using the Simscape family of products. Simscape offers fundamental components in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and other physical domains, and it provides the technology for simulating and analyzing physical systems.
The Simscape add-on products provide additional models and analysis capabilities for applications such as electrical power networks, mechanical power trains, and mechatronic systems. You can integrate these with three dimensional mechanical systems and analyze their behavior using an animation of the simulation results.
Simscape Fluid models can also be converted to C code. This enables them to support testing of embedded software in configurations such as processor in the loop and hardware and the loop testing, which is safer and more efficient than testing on hardware prototypes.
Simscape Fluid models integrate directly with block diagrams in Simulink, state machines in Stateflow, and Matlab functions. You can simulate your entire system in a single environment. This accelerates tasks such as designing control systems and optimizing system level performance.
