'undistortImage' function and new field of view

After applying the 'undistortImage' function to an image taken with a calibrated camera the undistorted image has pixels cropped from the original distorted image (barrel lens distortion). This pixel cropping results in a diminished field of view as compared to the original, distorted image taken by the calibrated camera. Is there anyway to calculate or determine what this new or 'true' field of view (in angles) of the undistorted images are?

At present, the undistortImage function can only return an undistorted image that is the same size as the input image.
