Hi,
I want to convert a cellarray into a nominal array. The line of code I used is the following:
Cfull.instrumentId=nominal(Cfull.instrumentId);
however I keep getting the following error message:
Error using categorical (line 334)
This operation would create a categorical array with more than 65534
categories.
Error in nominal (line 142)
b = b@categorical(a,args{:},'Ordinal',false);
I believe my array has too many unique values and cannot convert this particular array into the previously mentioned data type.
Is there way to increase this maximum amount of unique variables from 65534 to say 1,000,000?
Cheers, Kyle Zarmair

I dont believe there is a way to increase the number of categories.
categorical.maxNumCategories
This gives the maximum number of categories it can hold which is 65534.

right now I am using a 32bit Matlab system, does this number vary from 32 to 64 bits?
