When I installed matlab (R2011a or R2010b) in a PC with windows 7, none of the icons appear in the desktop or the program menu. It also doesn't show as the list of programs installed in the computer. But the whole directory exists under program files directory and the executable file is missing.
Trying to reinstall matlab (Ro2011a or R2010b) from the DVD doesn't do anything.
Have anyone encountered this problem before?
Thanks for your help on advance.

Walter is correct. Still I am curious: DVDs are still shipped?

@Andreas : Administrators, asset managers, and update media recipients can request a single copy of the DVD from License center.

ITS SIMPLE. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS . LETS SUPPOSE THE INSTALLED FILEA ARE IN THE c DRIVE
DO THIS
GO TO C DRIVE --> PROGRAM FILES--> MATLAB R2010--> BIN
WHEN YOU CLICK ON THE BIN THERE YOU WILL FIND (MATLAB STARTER APPLICATION) COPY THE MATLAB STARTER APPLICATION AND PASTE ON THE DESKTOP.
WHEN YOU RESTART YOUR PC NEXT TIME THE SHORTCUTS OF MATLAB WILL APPEAR ON THE DESKTOP AND ALSO IN THE PROGRAM FILES..
