license wait script for windows hpc server

Hi I have a windows hpc server running Ansys and now I'd like to add Matlab. Matlab works, but crashes if I submit a job when all the MDCS licenses are used. Matlab support said I had to write a windows script to ping the license server and exit with a code when licenses become free. Seems like a lot of work since Ansys does that out of the box. since this feature was requested within the first 5 minutes of putting users on the test cluster, I'm thinking it's a pretty common want.
