Should I update my 2008 MATLAB executable

6 views (last 30 days)
I packaged an executable in 2008 that I still use. When I got a new computer, I needed to redownload the 2008 runtime version to run this exe. Is it worth it to update my exe to 2024? Are there any concerns to consider? Are there any pros to keeping the 2008 version?
Thanks!

I understand that as you had packaged your executive file in R2008 version of MATLAB, you are considering the effects of upgrading to R2024 version of MATLAB.
Unless your application makes use of some depreciated functions, it is fine to upgrade to a newer version of MATLAB to avail the updated functionality.
I hope this helps.

Note that it is an open question as to whether upgrading to R2024b would result in an executable that is faster, or slower. Although there are numerous performance improvements in more recent releases, the simplicity of earlier releases allowed some operations to be faster.
