The "AWGN Channel" block in Simulink adds white Gaussian noise to the input signal by inheriting the sample time from that signal. This block is primarily useful for software-based simulations.
In contrast, the "HDL Implementation of AWGN Generator" is exactly not a block in Simulink but is designed for hardware-friendly architectures and supports HDL code generation. This allows for hardware-based simulations and enables the generated code to be deployed on an FPGA for further analysis. HDL Implementation of AWGN Generator is used in HDL designs. It is specifically designed for HDL use.
AWGN Channel is designed for all other use.
