Hybrid Energy Storage System Supercapacitor Battery Off-Grid Solar Power System

Hi friends, can I ask for your help? I am a student and am currently working on my final project. I’m stuck and don’t know who to ask for help. I’m developing a HESS supercapacitor battery system for an off-grid solar power plant. However, I’m not getting the results I want. I’m confused by the results because the current or power in the supercapacitor isn’t functioning properly, and the current or power from the battery reacts too quickly, so it doesn’t show the benefits of the supercapacitor. Does anyone know where the problem lies and how to solve it? I will do my best to make it work. I will send a screenshot of the simulation I created in the comments section.

Hi @Muhammad,

I can only provide suggestions to help you out. I do apologize for not having access to Matlab Simulink to simulate the problem. After taking a peek at your attached plot, my suggestion would be isolating super capacitor block circuit from rest and probably implementing data logging for the current and power outputs of both the super capacitor and battery. This will help in diagnosing the behavior of the system during simulation and allow for better tuning of control parameters. Tune the converter's control loop to minimize overshoot and oscillations. Again, check the simulation time step and solver settings. A smaller time step may provide more accurate results, especially in systems with rapid dynamics. Hope this helps.
