Hello everybody,
I am going to buy a perpetual license. My question is: What happen if I do not pay the renewal? Can I still use the SW with no upgrades?

"Can I still use the SW with no upgrades?": correct. With the perpetual license you can use the application as long as you want, with no upgrades and no support:
which states for Perpetual licenses: "Provides the right to use the software indefinitely, and the first year of MathWorks Software Maintenance Service is included in the initial purchase price."

Note that eventually the operating system you installed MATLAB on will become unsupported. If that operating system is Linux or MacOS, there will come a point where the (now) old version of MATLAB will not work or will only work in restricted modes. If the operating system is Windows then due to Windows Compatibility Mode versions tend to last longer... but soon enough only Windows 11 is going to be officially supported and Microsoft has been deliberately breaking (some) backwards compatibility (as if to force people to use Windows 11.)
