when cry signal(audio signal)is represented in time domain, what is the unit of amplitude(y-axis)? At many places i found diagrams showing amplitude on y-axis but unit is not mentioned. is it in dB? if yes what is the conversion of it?

Depends on what's being plotted. If it's the electrical signal out of a microphone or into speakers, I guess you could say it's volts. Some sound meters measure in decibels. You have to know what's being plotted.
