Hi I am using Matlab v2013a on Windows 8 (originally windows 7 updated to 8) core i3. Whenever I start Matlab everything else on my Laptop Stops working and computer gets hanged or too slow. What could be the reason? How can I check where is the problem? Is there problem in Matlab or the problem is in my system?
Specifications of my Laptop if needed.

Have you tried monitering your memory usage when you start matlab? 2GB isn't a lot for a modern windows OS so your system might not have enough memory for matlab and all the other programs you have running. Have you always had this problem with matlab?

2 GB is seriously lacking for proper numerics especially with the overhead from windows 8.
One things you could try is deleting some of the windows fonts as matlab spends ages loading those up at the start which is a known issue.
