General questions about using the Instrument control toolkit in Simulink for 485 connection

I have just installed a Quatech four channel Rs-422/485 asynchronous communications port adapter on my computer and am trying to send data out the port using the Instrument Control Toolbox (ICT) in Simulink. The device is a 422/485 (ie. can be configured as either). I do not know how to set it up with the ICT so it is configured as a 485 port. Also in reading the ICT documentation it talkes about specific stuff to do in matlab if you want to handle flow control (i.e. if set for software handshaking or hardware handshaking). Do I need to control this myself or will it be handled if I just leave flow control to "none"?

Needs R2010a or newer; see

There is specific documentation indicating RS485 support in CT; see http://www.mathworks.com/help/toolbox/instrument/f20-63744.html . I do not at the moment see any specific configuration for RS485, but I note that RS422 is not supported at this time, so possibly the configuration is automatic somehow.

Sorry I misread the documentation; I do see RS422 support mentioned. And now I have no idea how it knows whether RS422 or RS485 are intended.
