matlab 2014B on a laptop. The laptop has several version of the matlap on it. I can allocate a pool using the icon in the bottom left of the interface. The pool allocates and is used just fine. The local cluster default configuration passes validation test. The licenses match. I can execute a parpool command from the command line and it works just fine.
When I execute a parpool command from a script it hangs for....well longer than I have patience. I was up above 30 minutes.
This worked several months ago.

Hi David,
1. What does your script do? 2. Is this issue specific for this script? 3. Try creating a script with just 'parpool' in it and check if that also causes error? 4. Make sure you delete the pool, if any, before you start your script.

Do you load a large amount of data into memory before creating your parallel pool? I've had this issue before and this was the driver behind that. I resolved it by moving the parallel creation to before the data load.
