32 and 64 bit on same computer

Can I have 2013b 32-bit and 64-bit versions running on the same computer ? I have 64-bit installed and I also need the 32-bit version (already on another computer), but I am afraid that the 32-bit installation will wipe out the 64-bit one.

If you have a 64 bit machine you can only install the 64 bit version of Matlab.

That is incorrect.
- All 64 bit versions of MS Windows support execution of 32 bit executables. The exact behavior might not be the same for an old 32 bit executable with a newer release, due to changes in UAC (User Access Control) and Aero and increased strictness in separation of drivers that make it difficult to talk to parallel ports now, but that is a different issue.
- For a number of years, 64 bit versions of Linux had a mechanism to support execution of 32 bit executables; this facilities was removed in the major distributions approximately 3 years ago
- All OS-X versions before Yosemite (10.10) that supported 64 bits supported execution of 32 bit executables including PowerPC executables. Using an old executable with a newer OS-X release might require loading in old Java versions or might require installing a version of X Windows (such as XQuartz)

Without knowing the platform, this answer still seems relevant:
