Explanation on MaxRatio parameter in MatchFeatures fonction

Hello, I try to understand how is computed the ratio used to thresh ambiguous match in MatchFeatures fonction with surf descriptor. I take a look on OpenCV FLANN fonction and this fonction only return a parameter call distance. but matlab return a matrix of n*2 call Metrics. is anyone know how the metric array and the ratio are computed? kind regards
