MatLab no longer opens - Java error in Windows 10

2 views (last 30 days)
I installed MatLab 2016b last week, and was using it without any issues. Now when I open it, I get the following errors (see attached screen grab). The only thing I've changed is connected a second display to my laptop. I can still launch it with the -nodesktop option. Any help to fix this would be great, I've searched for a couple of hours and have not found anything yet.

As it is failing while trying to restore widget locations, I suggest that you experiment with renaming your prefdir (to move it out of the way) and seeing if it can start after that.

You may want to zip up your preference directory (or at least the files in it whose names contain the word "desktop") and send them to Technical Support using the Contact Us link in the upper-right corner of this page.
If the preference files were corrupted as the result of a bug, the Support staff (and the developers) may be able to use that information to locate and exterminate the bug. Your preference directory's path is given by the prefdir function; if you're on Windows you can easily open it in Windows Explorer using this command:
winopen(prefdir)
