Matlab fixes figure dimensions

I'm sure this is a really trivial question but I simply can't figure out how to fix this. When I first create a figure matlab allows me to change the figure width and height simply by dragging the bottom righthand corner of the figure window. However, whilst I'm editing the figure matlab at some point fixes the dimensions of the figure so the drag function no longer works. I know I can change the figure height/width from fig properties but dragging is way quicker so I'd prefer using that. Any help appreciated!

I personally do not know how I would fix width and height so that it can be manipulated anymore (at least interactively, SET would probably always work). So in my view the secret is to find out what action is "...at some point fixes the dimensions of the figure so...", so that you can avoid it or revert.
