Hey, I just installed the 2017b version on Mac and I don't know how to switch on the error beep in editor. It works when I type an error in the command window, but if I e.g. evaluate a bugged cell in the editor it just displayed the error, without sound.

I have the same problem. I also upgraded from 2016a to 2018a. When I play beep function and when I have an error on the command window, it does sound. But in the editor there is no sound when an error occurs!!! This feature is widely used! hope they fix this soon! I have tried several things to fix this but with no luck. If someone knows how to fix this please help!

Seems like it only happens when stepping on a section to execute the whole section. Sections are identified by double percents. Seems like a bug.

I looked through the settings for me (R2017a) and had no luck finding anything to help you. Here is the wiki for beep. https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/ref/beep.html
