I am working on project which involve image processing on video files.All my codes are working fine.But,sometimes,when i am executing my program,matlab and my system hangs and program stop responding to my commands.I suspect it may be due to main memory getting overloaded.Is there any way,in which i can keep flushing main memory as one action is completed?

"clear" variables when you are finished using them.
If you are using virtual memory or swap space, you might want to reduce that so that the program runs out of memory and gives an error instead of using the (very slow) disc as memory.

newframe = get first frame
while true
oldframe = newframe;
newframe = get another frame
do the frame difference
clear oldframe
end
clear newframe
