Is there a way to change a user from a Matlab Network license, to a new Matlab standalone license without having to re-install Matlab?

I suppose this may be license-dependent. If you receive an answer, that would be very helpful as many of our students installed MatLab referencing a network.lic local server authentication. To activate off-site would require a VPN connection. I am very interested if there is a way to change from a campus license to a single-user activation key.
On a test computer, I renamed the network.lic file to network.old then attempted to activate with an Unassociated Activation (requires activation key). However after entering my single-user activation key, I received a message that this option was not allowed for our license. I also tried to Activate Manually, selecting the I do not have a license file without success. I plan to submit a support ticket.

You could try updating the current license fro the MATLAB Help tab.
HELP > Licensing > Update current license
P.S. You might also have to clear the network.lic file in the matlab installation 'license' directory. Not sure that you need to do this step though...
