Does anyone have an elegant way to read ESRI grid (raster) files into Matlab? I only need to get the floating point data from the w001001.adf file. I do not have access to a GIS software package to convert these files to ASCII.
thank you, Chad

If you have the Mapping Toolbox product, you can use arcgridread: http://www.mathworks.com/help/toolbox/map/ref/arcgridread.html
To see which products are installed on the system you're using, enter "ver" in the MATLAB Command Window.

Starting in R2020a, the readgeoraster function can read Esri Binary Grid .adf files.
