Hello. I have just installed matlab 2012 in my university desktop. Installation is working, activated and I can run the program selecting matlab .exe in /bin folder. However there is no desktop icons. I can create a shortcut easily in Windows, however the matlab does not start in "documents/MATLAB" folder. Why install program does not created the startup icons itself? How can I make the shortcut manually created point to correct default folder with my m files?

There is free support for MATLAB installation problems. Please contact technical support.

You can define the "Process in..." field in the properties of the shortcut. Creating the shortcuts manually is a simple and efficient workaround. It take less than a minute, so I'd hesitate to call the technical support.

When you reached step 8 of the MathWorks Account-based installation process (if you instead installed using a File Installation Key, it's step 7 of that installation process) did you check the appropriate box in the installer app to create those shortcuts?
If you didn't and don't want to rerun the installer to create those shortcuts (which would be overkill) then as Jan said, creating those shortcuts manually isn't difficult.

I am also have a similar problem, where after installation Matlab 2010b, it doesn't create a shortcut and also no folder work. More than that Matlab.exe in the folder Bin is not running although the installation is successful. How to solve this problem?
