IR- UWB non coherent reciever

Hi, I want to simulate RF front end of IR-UWB non coherent receiver in matlab. I know only operating bandwidth(3.1GHz-5GHz). I have to find out all design specifications of receiver. I am new to UWB technology & Matlab. Can any one please guide me how can i proceed further. I am using gaussian for uwb pulse generation. but I don't know how to assign power for this signal.
