how to detect border image?

hi. can anyone know how to detect the border image in the attachment?

how to separate the red and white from the image 1 to image 2?if i run BW funtion, all the riceborder included.

i just want the border(outlier image). any idea?

The result should be edge between background and AOI (just yellow line as shown in the RHS image), right?

Just edge only, remove the rice at border region also, please do calrify?

You may try these steps to achieve your goal in getting the connected components

Step 1. Convert image into binary image using Edge Detection technique

(https://www.mathworks.com/help/images/ref/edge.html)

Step 2. Compute chain code of the binary image and find all connected components.

Step 3. Remove all the connected components which will lead you to get the image which are not connected in AOI.
