simulink requirements using msword import

Greetings,
I'm looking at the capabilities of simulink requirements in R2019b. Our organization relies heavily on MSWord docs with specific tags to make requirements. My objective would be to import this document and use the requirments editor/viewer to assign connections between requirements and simulink blocks. I'm having a hard time just getting started. The attached doc contains simple examples. When I import rich text and using a regexp of \[anchor_\d+] (and no other options) I get some confusing results.
Headings are imported. Sentences w/o the regexp expression show up. A forward slash shows up following a requirement including a graphic. And the font style differs from the source. Tags need to be in individual paragraphs or they're missed.
The attached is the requirements doc (in pdf, no .doc posting allowed) I'm playing with. At the bottom is a snap of the results I get when importing.
I'd appreciate some guidance as I pretty much don't understand this ecosystem. There must be some rules somewhere that dictate the format of the word doc but I haven't found it.
Thanks,
-Chris
