Web App Server on Ubuntu issues

It's been one issue after another trying to get the web apps server running on a Ubuntu VM. Currently I can run the application to configure the server, but when pressing any of the buttons (e.g. open app folder), nothing happens. Is it posible to copy my web app directly into a folder in the html path or something to work around this issue?
