Using Horn-Schunck method, velocities are obtained. The obtained velocities contain some artifacts of Horn- Schunck method. How do I identify artifacts of Horn Schunck velocities?

Thank you so much for the link. LK method has the same problem as with Horn-Schunck method. The problem is with the smoothing of the image. I cannot use Song method as it doesn't support the assumption( I assume that sum of all velocities is not zero) Is there any other way I can identify artifacts of Horn Schunck method/Lucas Kanade method?

Perhaps by using a method such as feature matching that does not involve smoothing? There are a number of offerings on the file exchange - a search there for "optic flow" will give you some ideas.
There are also methods that include boundaries, inferred from the flow itself or in conjuction with luminance steps, and these can avoid the smoothing artifacts at edges. A literature search will find these.
