is it possible to create iregulary shaped mesh grid?

Hello, is it possible to creat a non-rectangular mesh grid? lets say i have point that are aranged in a circle or any other shape for that mather. can i make a grid only on the inside of that figure? it could be triangulation based mesh as well.

You can use pcolor() or just put your values inside a disc of a 2D matrix.

the "circle" was only an example. i want to creat a grid in order to be able to perform some calculations.
your solution will not help me. thanx anyway.

It's done all the time in image processing. We always have irregularly shaped regions of interest, called ROIs or masks, and we process just inside the mask. The matrix is rectangular but the regions inside can be any shape whatsoever.
