bounding box for ratio

i wanted to calculate simple bounding box ratio.
m=(a1*b1)/a+b
where
a1=width of bounding box
b1=height of bounding box
a= width of image
b=height of image.
plz help me. first time i am using bounding box..

doc regionprops
Will give you bounding box.
doc size
Will give you image size.

but i would like to know that, can i use rgb image instead of BW image...

Well then figure out how you defined a region of interest in your rgb image, once you have this, repeat with regionprops, or just use find to find the indices and compute bounding box yourself.
