I have datenum() error ?

I load in a column of dates in the format yyyymmdd, then try to plot them. When I actually plot them I get dates looking like Q2-11. What does this mean?

It indicates that given the range of data on the x-axis datetick decided quarterly dates would be the best default (or you explicitly used the date format corresponding to same). You can change to display in whatever units you wish.
