Calculates 2D centroid (center of mass) X and Y coordinates of the 2D input matrix. The input array can be, ex., image acquired during an optics experiment, or it can be a mass distribution from a mechanical model.
Note: you can look at the centroid as a point about which no net rotational momentum owing to the 'weight' of the signal strenght at each data point would be experienced.
