Reactive power compensation is very important study in power systems analysis and operation. Here the STATCOM is designed by using simple two bus system to generate the reactive power for three phase load. the dq-theory based parameters transformation is applied for generating the pwm pulses for three phase inverter. The PI-controller is applied to controll both d-axis and q-axis current and also for controlling the DC-bus voltage.
From scope 6 and 7, we could observe that the active power of the load is supplied from the source and reactive power is from the STATCOM. Here, only PI-controller is applied with a tuned kp and ki gain values. With help of advanced controllers, the response could be improved.
