A thyristor that connected to the AC mains will supply a series-connected RL load. The mains voltage has an RMS value of 220 V, frequency f = 50 Hz, R = 1 ohm, and L = 2 mH. The thyristor is triggered at 30 degrees, and a freewheeling diode is connected (in the reverse direction) across the load terminals.
Using MATLAB (particularly the Symbolic Toolbox), created an m-file that calculates the following numerically:
- RMS value of the source current
- RMS value of the diode current
- RMS value of the load current
- Average value of the load voltage
