Full-wave rectifier with center tap transformer
Version 1.0.0 (39.4 KB) by
Abdelrahman Farghly
A full-wave rectifier with a center-tap transformer is a classic AC-to-DC conversion circuit that uses two diodes and a center tap.
Components and Working Principle
✅ Components:
- Center-tap transformer: Provides two equal secondary voltages (out of phase)
- 2 diodes: Direct current based on the polarity of the AC input
- Load resistor (R): Where DC output is measured
⚙️ Working:
- During the positive half-cycle, the upper half of the transformer conducts through Diode D1
- During the negative half-cycle, the lower half conducts through Diode D2
- Both half-cycles drive current in the same direction through the load
